Dear Dr. Jones,
As far as Diesel goes, he is the best dog I could ever have hoped for. He literally goes everywhere with me. I take him to the bank (he always gets treats in the drive thru), to get my oil changed, to McDonalds, and he never ever misses a trip to the barn. I took him out on his first ride with me and my horse about two weeks ago and he was great. He never strayed and listened very well. You would not believe the compliments I get on him (well maybe you would ;)! He is so well behaved he makes every other dog we meet look bad. I'm just learning about the different bites dogs have, and his kill bite has been completely bred out of him. He occasionally plays with a pit mix that always goes for the throat, and Diesel doesn't even know what to do. Of course I get people that are scared of "them big bad rockweilahs" but he just runs up to them and licks their hands. His protective instincts are beginning to show as well. If he hears voices outside, he "demands" to go out and he patrols the property until he's sure there's no threat. I really can't tell you how happy he has made me! You'll never have to worry about him being one of those yard dogs, that is for sure. I'm planning on taking him to my companion animal management class in a few weeks and showing him off. My professor's daughter also has a rottweiler named Diesel (her last name is Cummins though, go figure). Sorry about the ramble, but I want you to know just how wonderful of a dog he has turned out to be.
